Kayla Itsines is a fitness goddess - she's transformed women's bodies and lives, and has a quick, intense workout program totally dialed. Millions of women the world over are looking at her for how to exercise, and what to eat . . . so naturally, when we spoke with her on set for ClassFitsugar in LA, we had to ask "what's THE best thing to eat before a workout?"
She laughed a little bit as she told us . . . "I always eat a tuna sandwich."
While she mentioned that she doesn't literally always eat a tuna sandwich (for instance, for a morning workout she'll have eggs and toast), she does tend to stick to her favorite. She has some tuna on bread, sometimes with a little mayo.
It makes sense, too - tuna is basically a superfood in a can; it's inexpensive, loaded in protein and muscle-helping BCAAs, and can be used in so many recipes. If you're going for something a little different beyond Kayla's staple sandwich, try stuffing some tuna into an avocado!
