In the three years since the Boston Marathon bombing, professional dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis has been an inspirational force. A spectator on that fateful day, Adrianne lost the lower part of left leg below the knee. Since then, everything Adrianne has done only proves that she is a survivor, not a victim. "I refuse to be called a victim," she writes on her website. "I am not defined by what happened in my life. I am defined by how I live my life." She vowed to dance again, and she did. She vowed to run, and she has - she has even danced across the Boston Marathon finish line.
Her most significant challenge comes today, as Adrianne takes on all 26.2 miles of the challenging Boston Marathon course, wearing a prosthetic blade. While she's running to raise money for Limbs For Life, she's also running to say thank you to those who have helped her along the way, and to inspire others by her journey. Her week leading up to the race has been filled with incredible moments, which we hope will serve as extra motivation to get her across the finish line on Monday.
