Bob Harper's Easy Tip For Crushing Your Next Workout http://ift.tt/15AiZZj

Our friends at Self share a training secret, courtesy of The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper, that will really kick your workout up a notch.

Sometimes the most basic tips are the ones that will actually work best. That's why we love what Bob Harper told us earlier this week when we were testing his new Black Fire workout for DailyBurn.com.

His advice: take score. Writing down your rep count provides you with a benchmark for every future workout Harper explains. Keeping track of your performance is an important element built in to his 60-day Black Fire program, and that's because seeing the numbers - and aiming to match, then surpass them - keeps you accountable and motivated.

The simple advice can be easily translated to a variety of workouts. If you're doing a Tabata session, try to hit the same number of reps during each 20-second burst. If you're doing sprints on the row machine, aim to cover the same distance every time. The scorecard below was for the workout we tried - with Harper coaching us both on screen and in real life. We did each exercise for two minutes, for a total of three rounds with no (zero!) rest - well, except for the few seconds we needed to log our rep count after each move. Now, when we try it again, we have our number to beat.

"You're competing against yourself," Harper says. So make every rep count.
