If you're looking to lose weight or watch your sugar intake, it's time to embrace your inner plain Jane. According to dietician Julie Upton, MS, RD of Appetite For Health, nondairy yogurt and milk labelled as "plain" or "original" tend to be lower in sugar than other varieties available. For comparison, Stonyfield Organic plain yogurt only has 12 grams of sugar per serving, while the same amount of french vanilla yogurt has 30 grams - that's more than two times the sugar! Instead of grabbing flavored containers, top off your plain yogurt with chopped fresh fruit or berries for extra flavor and nutrition.
