Nearly 1 Million Trek Bikes Recalled After 1 Biker Became Paralyzed http://ift.tt/1DUd9OD

Trek Bicycles is recalling nearly one million bikes in the US and Canada after an issue with the front wheel left one biker paralyzed and two injured. Included in the recall are all models sold from September 1999 until now, prices ranging between $480 and $1,650, that are equipped with front disc brakes and a black or silver quick-release lever on the front wheel hub. The issue is that the lever that holds the front wheel on can open too far and get stuck in the disk break rotor, causing the bike to stop. Not good.

Trek learned about the issue after investigating a 2014 accident that left one cyclist paralyzed. Facial injuries and a fractured wrist were also reported from two separate accidents.

Watch the video above for more information on how to check your Trek bike, or bring it to an authorized Trek dealer to have it checked out. If your bike is one of the one million affected, they'll offer free installation of the new quick-release lever. In addition, you'll also receive a $20 coupon toward Bontrager accessories. If you have any questions, call 800-373-4594.
